Casey Demons secured their first win of the season with a 46-point win over North Ballarat

Casey were off to the best possible start with Cam Pederson slotting the opening goal inside the first minute. Both teams found it difficult to adjust to the slippery conditions which resulted in turnovers over the ground. The contest remained tight with North Ballarat and Casey both kicking two goals each to close the quarter out with only a few points seperating the two teams. Goy Lok and Bayley Fritsch were the goal-scorers for the Demons. Casey led by two points at quarter time.

The Demons adapted to conditions quicker with a strong start to the second term, kicking four unanswered goals. Tom Bugg, Corey Maynard, Cam Pederson and Bayley Fritsch all kicked goals as Casey gained control of the game. After leaking two majors to the Roosters, Bayley Fritsch kicked his third while Tom Bugg joined him on multiple goals with his second late to close the term out with Casey leading by 28 points. The Demons kicked 6.4 in the second quarter which gave them the upper hand heading into the second half. Tom Bugg had 17 possessions, seven tackles and two goals in the first half while Corey Maynard stood out also with 15 possessions and six tackles.

North Ballarat opened the second half with the opening goal early while Aloysio Ferreira kicking truly to reply for the Demons. Casey upped the ante with back-to-back goals including one straight out of the centre bounce with Fritsch running into an open goal. Jaxon Briggs had his first goal for Casey as they continued to extend their lead. The Roosters scored a goal against the run of play before Tom Bugg kicked consecutive goals in a stunning run of play. North Ballarat caused some hiccups for the Demons late with three straight goals as Casey went into the final change with a 30-point lead.

After a string of rushed behinds early in the final term, Dean Kent rewarded the patient Demons with a major. Casey were keen to close the game out smart and after a reply from the visitors it was Declan Keilty standing up with two strong marks and two straight goals in front of goal. Tom Bugg kicked his fifth goal for Casey before late goals from both sides saw the Demons run out with the victory. Angus Scott kicked his first for the game for Casey. The Demons finished 19.13 (127) to 12.9 (81) winners.

Tom Bugg was best on ground with 35 possessions, 11 marks, seven tackles and five goals. More major ball winners for the Demons were Mitch White (28) and Eddie Morris (27). Bayley Fritsch was a presence up forward with four goals, 11 marks and 19 touches. Mitch King made his return from a long injury setback to star in the ruck.

Next Saturday Casey Demons will travel to Simonds Stadium to take on Geelong.
