Colin Garland has been appointed as the Casey Demons VFL Womens senior coach for our inaugural season in 2018.

Colin who only recently announced his retirement from the Demons AFL side will join the club as our first VFL womens senior coach.

Originally from North Hobart/Tasmania U18/Tasmania VFL, Garland was drafted at No.46 in the 2006 NAB AFL Draft. He made his AFL debut in round five, 2007 against the Sydney Swans at the SCG and finished with 141 matches. A NAB AFL Rising Star nominee in round 14, 2008, Garland finished second in Melbourne’s best and fairest award in 2013.

During the 2017 season year, whilst in rehab, Colin began a coaching role with the AFLW players and developed a keen passion for coaching - particularly for Women’s football. His appointment as the VFL women's coach will see him combine both of these passions.

The club is excited to have Colin as our coach, this year in our inaugural year, as he brings with him a wealth of AFL experience, not only as a player, but as a coach who has recently been heavily involved in AFL Womens football.
