The Club has a proud history since its formation in 1903.

The Scorpions had won a staggering 15 flags across 5 leagues before entering the VFA in 1982; and from there it wasn’t long before tasting success with the Division 2 Premiership in 1983.

The Scorpions were able to establish themselves in Division 1 after only 4 seasons with an historic Premiership over a highly fancied Port Melbourne in 1987 in front of close to 20 000 spectators at the famous Junction Oval.  It would be the clubs only Premiership until 1995 when the club entered a Golden Era, winning 4 of the next 5 flags including ’96 the year the competition changed to its current VFL banner, as well as ’98 and ’99.
